Students from the AVID classes built food towers in class on Friday (11/18). The food towers were built from donated non-perishable food items. The 8th period class won the contest with a nearly 5-foot tall tower (59 inches)! What a fun way to focus on collaboration and help those in need.
The Arkansas Central Arkansas Library System is partnering with Arkansas PBS to sponsor a Mister Rogers' Neighborhood Sweater Drive. Community members are asked to donate new or gently worn sweaters and other cold weather clothing through Nov. 30. #pcssdproud #equityandexcellence

Have heard the news? The Arkansas Department of Education named 10 schools in PCSSD as "schools on the move" in its latest report. Congrats to CATO, COLLEGE STATION, DAISY BATES, HARRIS, PINE FOREST, SHERWOOD and SYLVAN HILLS ELEMENTARY as well as MAUMELLE, ROBINSON and SYLVAN HILLS MIDDLE. Life Skills students at Sylvan Hills Middle brought back some fun Halloween activities last week. The students each created a gingerbread haunted house that showcased their individual creativity. The group also made our own personal pan pizzas! They wrapped up the Halloween fun with a schoolwide trick-or-treating for the first time in 3 years!
Sylvan Hills Middle is proud to recognize students at the first nine weeks honors assembly. There are more than 200 students recognized on the All A and All A/B honor roll for the 1st quarter. We had over 350 people attend the assembly to celebrate these students.
Shout out to our AVID students who facilitated the assembly and to Ms. Gibson for hosting the post-assembly reception in the library learning center.
