Last week our rising 9th grade Mills Middle School AVID scholars visited MUSH (Mills University Studies High School) to experience "A Day in the Life of an (AVID) high school scholar." It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Detriane Ireland, an ELA teacher at Mills Middle School. Mr. Ireland worked at Mills Middle for the past three years, this being his fourth year teaching here. Mr. Ireland will be greatly missed by the staff and scholars at Mills Middle. Counselors will continue to be available for our staff and students this week.

Last week, Comet, Yoselin Gomez was "Principal for the Day!" Shadowing Mills Middle School principal, Dr. Watson, Ms. Gomez monitored the hallways, participated in classroom observations, and meetings throughout the day. Ms. Gomez asked to interview Dr. Watson as part of a career project in her Family and Consumer Science class. After the interview, Dr. Watson exclaimed, "One day you should shadow me to see what my day is actually like."
