Maumelle Basketball is celebrating five Hornets who earned postseason recognition for their outstanding play, leadership, and impact on the court this year!
⭐ Kam Alexander (Junior) – 5A All State
K4 did it all — scoring, pushing the pace, creating for teammates, locking up on defense, and racking up steals. His stock rose all season and continues to climb.
🔥 Kennon Johnson (Junior) – 5A All State Tournament Team
A fierce competitor who made his presence known every night. Kennon hit big shots, got big stops, and did whatever it took to win.
✨ Reese Shearon (Senior) – 5A Central All Conference
Reese capped off a strong senior season, shooting nearly 40% from three and giving everything he had to the program. A leader on and off the court.
💪 Jackson Walker (Junior) – 5A Central All Conference
High energy, tough finishes, big rebounds, and clutch defensive plays — Jackson brought grit and intensity to every game.
🔒 Ashton “ABuckets / A2” Shelton (Junior) – 5A Central All Conference
A lockdown defender and all‑around playmaker, Ashton took on the toughest matchups and made winning plays all season long.
🏀Congratulations on an incredible year. The future is bright in the Hornet’s Nest. #GoHornets #PCSSDproud #ServeAll

🎓 AVID Wednesday Spotlight: WICOR in Action! ✏️📚
The foundation of AVID techniques is the WICOR framework — Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading — and it was on full display at Sylvan Hills High School.
In Mrs. Bridges’ history class, students explored industrialization and its impact on countries worldwide. After reading about the topic in class, they dug deeper through research, organized their findings into visual models, collaborated on large‑scale posters, and used inquiry to understand how global events shaped the modern world.
👕 Don’t forget to wear your college or career shirt tomorrow and celebrate the strategies that help our scholars think critically and dream big.

📈 Reach higher achievement levels in reading and math
📝 Score higher on standardized tests
🎯 Have better concentration and memory
🏃♂️ Maintain a healthy weight and stay alert
We are proud to fuel our students' minds and bodies! Way to go, Mrs. Neal and Sherwood Elementary, for this fun memory. #PCSSDProud #ServeAll #NationalSchoolBreakfastWeek #ReadAcrossAmerica

PCSSD is aware of the concerns being raised by Lifetouch. PCSSD had an agreement in place prior to all of this new information being released, and the process for providing all school photos had already begun. PCSSD is currently reviewing for potential changes with the agreement, and the district will be considering other options for the next school year.
